Wednesday Top 5 / Free Online Games

by

Some of you have probably never played a game online in your life. Well here’s your chance to start wasting minute after valuable minute. Give them a shot. Most take a little bit to really start exploring the games’ potential.

In no particular order:

  1. Dolphin Olympics 2: This game requires four arrows and some deft fingers. It appears simple at the outset, but don’t underestimate the possibilities. *Hint: If you’re patient, you can jump all the way to Mars and beyond!
  2. Boxhead: Significantly more complicated than Dolphin Olympics, Boxhead is a one person shooter. Control the Lego-like mercenary of your choice to obliterate the increasing swarm of zombies! *Hint: Watch out for those red devils. They’re fast, and they shoot!
  3. flOw: Just move the arrow and click your mouse to make the little micro organism eat the other little organisms. Once again, do not be fooled by its simplicity. There are infinite layers and possibilities if you just keep at it. It’s actually a wonderfully calming world that sucks you in, only to come back to reality thirty minutes later. *Note: Best background music ever.
  4. Space Invaders: Two arrows and a spacebar takes you right back to the arcade. Kill those aliens before they kill you! *Hint: The “shields” can get in the way more than it can protect your ship.
  5. Line Rider: Of course. See Toby’s original post on the phenomenon that is the tiny man, tiny sled, and a long long line.

Do you remember that tiny little pocket-sized computer I had back in the early ’80s. It had a space invaders on it and the little Pacman knock-off with the gobbling “beelers.” And you could put these games in yourself with Basic code. Aren’t these new games just highly sophisticated copies of some of those first concepts?

    Don’t miss Dolphin Olympics.

    Dolohin Olympics; bizarrely addicting!
